Pembs SAR (Pembrokeshire Lowland Search and Rescue) is a new PROBATIONARY Lowland Rescue team formed in 2026.We are fully recognised by the Association of Lowland Search & Rescue (ALSAR) and our team is developing with the endorsement of Dyfed-Powys Police.All volunteers will be trained to national Lowland Rescue standards in searching for high-risk missing persons.We cover the county of Pembrokeshire, including the Preseli hills with a safe, professional and community-focused team.

Who are we?PembsSAR was formed as the 35th Lowland Rescue team throughout the UK and is currently in the probationary phase. This means that we are in the first steps into becoming a full team actively engaging in search and rescue operations.We have endorsements from Dyfed-Powys Police and will work along side them as we develop.Our area of operation will be the whole of Pembrokeshire including the Preseli Hills.

What is Lowland Rescue?Teams under Lowland Rescue are set up for the areas Police services. Because of common training they can work together on large-scale or cross-border searches without any issue.Teams are diverse with what resources they can deploy, but as well as the main foot-search volunteers, many teams have Search Dogs, medical response units, water rescue teams, mountain bike and boat search crews and often work with other response agencies such as 4×4 Response, St John Ambulance and Red Cross.Lowland Rescue teams cover the majority of mainland UK with other areas being covered by their own respective specialist organisations.

SECRETARY - A CRITICAL & REWARDING ROLEThe Secretary is essential to the smooth running, professionalism, and credibility of our team. This is a role for someone who takes pride in organisation, communication, and helping a lifesaving charity operate at its very best.

OPERATIONAL TEAMThe bread and butter of any SAR team.Highly trained individuals who are ready to respond at a moments notice, along side other elements of the emergency services, directly searching for missing persons.

SUPPORT TEAMThe backbone keeping the team running in the background and in the field.You will be part of the team helping to support the operational team, day to day running, equipment, admin, fundraising and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
• Managing and maintaining official team records and documentation
• Preparing agendas, taking minutes, and supporting the governance of trustee and team meetings
• Handling official correspondence on behalf of the team
• Ensuring compliance with charity governance requirements
• Coordinating internal communications and helping keep the team informed
• Supporting the Trustees in the administration of the charity
• Upholding professionalism and confidentiality at all times
